Okay, You can find thousands of blogs how to install VMWare but allways somehow now matter what,

you allways find yourself getting into trouble,   Here is my cookbook for installing VMWare server 2.0.2 ,

As you know VMWare server product is end of life means there are no new features or support for that product, VMWare provide the newer version which it is ESXi,

1. Install Clean Debian.

2. Make sure you have the following components: gcc, linux-kernel headers,
use the command

apt-get install linux-headers-$(uname -r)

3.  change your default GNU C Complier to 4.3  ,  cd /bin; rm -rf gcc; ln -s ./gcc-4.3 gcc

4. start Debian installation but when you are reaching to a question asking to run the 'vmware-config.pl' say NO

5. download a patch from the following url http://www.troublenow.org/files/vmware/vmware2.0.2-on-debian6.0.1.tar.gz

6. Patchh vmware-config.pl file

cd /usr/bin

patch vmware-config.pl < vmware-config.pl.diff

7. get into usr/lib/modules/sources and patch the files

cd /usr/lib/vmware/modules/source
for i in *.tar ; do tar xpf $i ; done
for i in 00-vmware-2.6.32_functional.diff 01-vmware-2.6.32_cosmetic.diff 02-vmnet-include.diff; do patch -p1 < $i; done
